The JVC HD-52G887 is 52 inch (measured diagonally) widescreen rear projection TV set which uses JVC’s highly praised D-ILA technology. The D-ILA technology uses a three chip system which is used for color production. The use of D-ILA technology delivers the most advanced and superior quality TV sets as of today. The D-ILA is JVC’s name for the LCOS technology and is an intermediate between the LCD and the DLP. The hazards such as screen aging or burn in issues are avoided with the use of D-ILA technology.

 

The native resolution of the set is 1280 X 720 at 720p with a widescreen aspect ratio of 16:9. The aspect ratio is useful for viewing widescreen videos or movies. The depth of the set is a tad more than 16” (16.37” to be precise) and tips the scales at 84 pounds. The JVC HD-52G887 offers extremely rich and deep colors. The set offers extremely high contrast ratios. The black levels of the set are improved using the three step optical iris. The audio tone correction prevents volume fluctuations.

 

The set is equipped with two speakers which provide excellent audio quality with a total output of 20 watts (10 X 2) and surround sound capabilities. The JVC HD-52G887 also has a PC video input which lets you connect to your computer to experience high resolution images. The set uses a user replaceable lamp which may have to be replaced in a couple of years depending on the daily usage.
