Change your BenQ MT700 projector lamp and follow this guide for a smooth installation.
Be prepared with the correct lamp
Avoid generic “compatible” lamps and go with an authentic BenQ MT700 projector lamp. You get what you pay for and in the case of generic lamps it’s usually a long list of problems:
- shorter lamp life than original lamps
- toxic materials and carcinogenic parts including Krypton-85
- prone to explosions
- incompatibility causing damage to the sensitive electronics in your projectors
- no guarantee or refunds
Save yourself unnecessary headaches and buy authentic from a recognized dealer. You’ll be getting a far superior product with a replacement guarantee and tech support.
When BenQ MT700 projector lamp is reaching end of life, you’ll see a warning message on screen. The lamp light on the projector panel will also light up red. Be sure to change the BenQ 59.J0C01.CG1 projector lamp immediately.

Replacing the BenQ 59.J0C01.CG1 projector lamp
IMPORTANT NOTE: The BenQ MT700 projector operates at an extremely high temperature. Let the projector cool for a least 45 minutes before replacing the BenQ 59.J0C01.CG1 projector lamp. The projector should be cool to the touch. Don’t rush it or you may end up with a nasty burn.
1. Turn the power off and disconnect the BenQ MT700 projector from all power sources.
2. The BenQ MT700 projector lamp door is on the left side. You may need to lift it up slightly to loosen the screws and remove the lamp cover.
3. Loosen the two screws that hold the BenQ 59.J0C01.CG1 projector lamp in place. A magnetic screw driver will make the whole process easier.
4. Grab the BenQ 59.J0C01.CG1 projector lamp by the two side indentations and slowly pull the lamp out. Pulling out too quickly may cause the bulb to break. If this happens go to: What to do when your projector lamp explodes.
5. Don’t touch the inside of the BenQ MT700 projector after the lamp is removed. The optical components are very sensitive and even the slightest movement can cause unevenness and distortion of the projected images.
NOTE: The BenQ 59.J0C01.CG1 projector lamp contains mercury and should not be thrown into regular garbage. Recycle your used lamps! If you bought from an authentic manufacturer they will recycle the lamp for you at no extra cost (another reason to buy authentic lamps).
6. Slowly insert the new projector lamp, making sure it’s securely in place.
7. Tighten the screws on the projector lamp cage.
8. Reinstall the projector lamp cover. Tighten the side screw holding the lamp cover in place. Don’t over tighten the screws otherwise the lamp may not work properly.
9. Turn the power on and wait for the projector to warm up.
10. Reset the Lamp Timer.
