The JVC HD-56G787 is a 56” (measured diagonally) high definition TV using JVC’s D-ILA technology. The depth of the set is just 17 3/8” and weighs 92 pounds. The native resolution of the set is 1280 X 720 and has an aspect ratio of 16:9. The aspect ratio is important while watching widescreen movies. The D-ILA technology is an intermediate technology between the LCD and the DLP and can also be said to be an upgradation of the LCOS technology.

The use of D-ILA technology also eliminates the problems like image burn in or the screen door effect which are present in other technologies. The brightness and the contrast ratios of the JVC HD-56G787 are simply superb. The black levels are a slightly disappointing. The colors of the set are very rich and vibrant and yet very natural. The 3:2 pulldown conversion is used for smoother running videos or movies. The three line digital comb filter can be used to eliminate any visual interferences.

The speakers are built in and are attached inside the cabinet just below the screen. The total output of the speakers is 20 watts and they can even be used to produce the surround sound effect. The universal remote has been very intelligently designed and has a back light for all the buttons which makes it easier to use in the dark including the channel return button which is used to help you move quickly between two channels.
